Kanye West Russia Concerts Cancelled by Organisers
Organisers have officially confirmed that two sold-out concerts featuring the US rapper known as Ye, formerly Kanye West, in Russia have been cancelled. The announcement brings an end to weeks of confusion surrounding the status of the highly anticipated musical performances.
Scheduled Performances and Venue
According to the plans, the artist was scheduled to take the stage at the Gazprom Arena located in St Petersburg. The musical events were planned for two consecutive dates: October 10 and October 11. Despite reaching sold-out status, organisers confirmed that the performances will no longer take place.
Foreign Ministry Opposition
The cancellation follows public opposition from Russia’s foreign ministry. Prior to the confirmation by organisers, the ministry had condemned the planned shows, explicitly labeling them as unacceptable. The official stance was attributed to the rapper's past glorification of Adolf Hitler, which served as the basis for the government's objection to the scheduled appearances in the country.
