MKBHD Drops Blunt Verdict on Apple's Touchscreen MacBook Pro

YouTuber Marques Brownlee, known as MKBHD, has shared his first impressions of Apple's new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and touchscreen capabilities. In a video titled "Macbook PROLED XDR Impressions: They Said They Wouldn't!", Brownlee expressed his blunt verdict on the feature, stating that it is "still kind of sloppy and messy to use."

Brownlee's main objections to the touchscreen include the display wobbling when pressed, the lack of support for the Apple Pencil, and the fact that most Mac apps are not built for finger input. He also noted that the screen still has fingerprints and that the display's responsiveness is not as smooth as he would like.

However, Brownlee did praise the display and the weight of the new MacBook Pro, stating that he would upgrade for the weight savings alone. The 14-inch model weighs 3 pounds, half a pound lighter than before, and the 16-inch model weighs 4 pounds.

The PROLED XDR display features a 2,000 nits of peak brightness and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, making it the "world's best laptop display," according to Apple's chief hardware officer, Johny Srouji.

Brownlee's verdict is a useful filter for those considering purchasing the new MacBook Pro. If you want the best screen on a laptop and a lighter bag, the new MacBook Pro delivers. However, if you're paying $400 extra mainly to touch the screen, you may be paying for the part of the Mac that still needs work.
