Queensland Issues Multiple Flood Warnings as Wild Weather Persists

Queensland residents are bracing for further severe weather and rising waters, with multiple flood warnings currently active across the state following days of heavy downpours.

Flood Alerts Active in Central and South-East Regions

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, a Watch and Act flood alert remains in place for the Central Highlands as water levels rise around the Theresa Creek Dam catchment. Communities in Clermont and nearby areas have been advised to prepare, even though authorities have downgraded the alert from an earlier Emergency Warning.

Meanwhile, in south-east Queensland, the Mary River at Tiaro—located north of Gympie—is climbing rapidly past moderate flood levels and threatens to reach a major flood stage.

The Bureau of Meteorology indicates that an inland severe weather system is tracking eastward and is expected to impact south-east Queensland by Monday. Senior forecaster Felim Hanniffy cautioned that the region faces multiple days of potential severe storms, warning of a dangerous combination of large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall.
