Oxygen Cylinder Explosion in Pakistan Ambulance Leaves 10 Dead

A tragic explosion involving an oxygen cylinder inside a parked ambulance has resulted in at least 10 deaths at a government medical facility in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The incident occurred overnight in the Tharparkar district as patients were being prepared for transfer to another hospital.

Investigation and Response

District Police Chief Arif Aziz confirmed that the victims included hospital staff, patients, and their accompanying relatives. Visuals from the scene depicted the ambulance engulfed in flames, leaving behind a charred frame. In response to the disaster, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has issued a formal statement expressing his condolences and calling for a transparent, immediate investigation into the cause of the blast.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding medical facility safety in the region. This tragedy follows a separate fatal event in August, where an air conditioner explosion at an Islamabad hospital nursery resulted in the deaths of 15 infants.
