Pakistan and China Ease Trade Through Khunjerab Pass

Pakistan and China have signed an agreement to establish a customs green channel for selected agricultural and related goods at the Sost-Khunjerab border. The agreement was reached through a virtual meeting between the two countries' customs administrations, led by officials from the Federal Board of Revenue.

The green channel will provide priority processing and examination for eligible shipments under risk-based controls. This will enable customs authorities to share information and risk alerts, reducing delays for perishable goods. The Khunjerab Pass, which connects Gilgit-Baltistan with China's Xinjiang region, is a significant trade route that is generally open from April to November.

Pakistan Customs collected Rs15 billion in imports from China through the crossing last year. The agreement aims to facilitate smoother trade between the two countries and increase economic cooperation.
