Pakistan has called on Afghanistan to take concrete steps against militant groups operating across their shared border, while strongly denying accusations that it has been recruiting Afghan nationals to fight insurgent factions.
The diplomatic friction intensified following statements addressing regional security and cross-border violence. Islamabad dismissed claims from Kabul regarding a purported lack of capacity to curb insecurity, labeling counter-allegations from the Afghan side as diversionary tactics. Pakistani authorities specifically demanded action against groups such as the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Additionally, Islamabad rejected recent remarks by former U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad alleging that Pakistan has been arming Afghans to combat anti-Pakistani insurgents. Pakistani officials characterized these assertions as unfounded as tensions persist over border security and militant safe havens.
