Prosecutors in Massachusetts have indicated plans to retry Lindsay Clancy, the mother whose murder trial ended in a mistrial when jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.
Clancy, 36, appeared in court for a hearing following the September collapse of her murder trial. She previously pleaded not guilty to murdering Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, eight months, arguing she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time.
During the court session, legal teams debated multiple motions, including a defense request to dismiss the case entirely and arguments surrounding the handling of a single holdout juror from the original trial. Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague stated that the state intends to retry the case, though officials currently do not know what that looks like.
The previous trial featured testimony from Clancy's ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, her mother, her mother-in-law, and her psychiatrist. Patrick Clancy stated that his wife’s mental health took a "big spiral" about a month before the deaths, while her mother-in-law testified that Clancy was "begging for help" beforehand.
