Pakistan Will Pay for Its Sins in Kashmir, Says BJP Leader
Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina has condemned the recent terror attacks in the region, stating that Pakistan will have to pay a huge price for its sins if it continues to sponsor terror acts.
Speaking to reporters after paying a condolence visit to the family of slain Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayan Bhat, Raina said that Pakistan's intentions are to turn Kashmir into a graveyard. He accused the neighboring country of not wanting peace and happiness in the region, and of indulging in ploys to disrupt the lives of the people.
Raina's comments come in the wake of a recent gunbattle in Anantnag district, in which three Army personnel, including two officers, were killed. The BJP leader expressed regret over the loss of lives and vowed that those responsible for the attack would be punished.
The BJP leader also took a swipe at National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, who has called for talks with Pakistan. Raina questioned Abdullah's guarantee that Pakistan would stop sponsoring terror if dialogue was resumed, pointing out that India has held talks with other countries in the past but has not seen a reduction in terror attacks.
Raina also criticized People's Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti for politicizing the situation, saying that it was not the time to score political points when someone had sacrificed their life for the country.
