Raye Wins 2026 Mercury Prize with Album *This Music May Contain Hope*

Raye has been crowned the winner of the 2026 Mercury Prize, taking home the prestigious trophy and a £25,000 cash prize for her acclaimed album, This Music May Contain Hope. The artist beat a competitive field of 11 other shortlisted nominees at the annual music awards ceremony.

The star-studded event took place in Newcastle for the second consecutive year, featuring live performances from several nominated acts, including former Little Mix star Jade, jazz group Knats, Nia Archives, and Florence + The Machine. Following an independent judging panel's review of the contenders, Raye was awarded the top honor recognizing the best album from the UK and Ireland.

Speaking to the BBC shortly after her victory, a grateful Raye expressed that she was "speechless" and had poured everything into the maximalist body of work, which explores themes of overcoming heartbreak and self-doubt. The win marks another major milestone in the singer's career, following her artistic independence and recent chart success.
