In a live court session on Tuesday, the jury heard new evidence from the woman who has accused comedian Russell Brand of raping her at his home. The accuser presented a series of text messages that Brand allegedly sent months after the alleged incident, including the phrase “I wanna push you further.”
During the hearing, Brand’s lawyer described how the comedian had told the woman to “clear up the mess you’ve made,” a statement that the court noted as part of the broader context of the case. The accuser also recounted the circumstances of the alleged rape, saying she “couldn’t speak or breathe” and “closed her eyes and tried not to be there.”
Jurors were shown a photograph of Brand’s bedroom, which the prosecution used to illustrate the setting of the alleged assault. The court also reviewed the text messages, which the accuser claims were sent months after the alleged rape, suggesting a continuing pattern of behaviour.
The trial will continue with further testimony from both sides. The jury is expected to deliberate in the coming days.
