Suspect Arrested Following Fire at Hitler’s ‘Eagle’s Nest’ Retreat

German authorities have taken a suspect into custody after a major fire broke out at the Kehlsteinhaus, the historic mountain retreat in Bavaria famously known as the "Eagle’s Nest." The blaze, which began on Friday night, has left the site largely destroyed.

Emergency Response in Remote Bavaria

Emergency dispatchers in Traunstein received a fire alarm from the remote Obersalzberg peak at approximately 21:15 local time on Friday. Roughly 200 firefighters were deployed to the scene to combat the flames. However, officials noted that the building's isolated location and difficult terrain significantly hampered firefighting efforts, with the structure remaining engulfed well into Saturday morning.

There have been no reports of injuries resulting from the incident. Police confirmed the arrest of a suspect shortly after the fire was reported, though details regarding the individual or a potential motive have not been disclosed.
