A 19-year-old woman has died in hospital, days after being critically wounded in a drive-by shooting south of Brisbane. Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, from Jimboomba, succumbed to her injuries at the Princess Alexandra Hospital following the attack at Fitzys Loganholme on Saturday night.

Homicide Investigation Underway

The shooting occurred during a boxing event at the venue, where two masked suspects opened fire, striking Ms. Schuster-Togiatau in the head and neck. Three men—Zachary Uchtman, Brodie Blackwood, and Kane Barrett—were also wounded in the incident. Two of the men have since been discharged from the hospital, while one remains under medical care.

Queensland Police have officially upgraded the case to a homicide investigation. Logan District Detective Inspector Ian Galpin described the attack as "cowardly" and confirmed that a task force of approximately 80 detectives is working to identify the suspects, who remain at large. While authorities are keeping an open mind regarding the motive, they have not ruled out the possibility of gang involvement.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the shooters or the circumstances surrounding the event to come forward. Detective Inspector Galpin also commended the bystanders who provided immediate first aid to the victims amidst the chaotic scene.
