Gloucester Schools Placed in Lockdown After Boy Injured in Street Altercation

Two schools in Gloucester were placed in lockdown on Thursday morning after an altercation left a boy with minor injuries and triggered a major response from armed police. Gloucestershire Constabulary reported that officers were called to Chalford Road in the Tuffley area at 08:50 GMT following reports of an incident outside St Peter's High School.

According to police, a male was spotted carrying a "long-bladed item" during the confrontation. The suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived, prompting armed officers to launch a search for the group. The injured boy was subsequently transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported.

As a precautionary measure, St Peter's High School and the nearby Willow Primary Academy were locked down. Authorities advised concerned parents to stay away from the area while the situation was handled. Police later reassured families that pupils were safe within the school grounds and that there was no ongoing threat at the locations.

Local representatives and parents expressed concern over the disturbance. Independent Tuffley ward councillor Lorraine Campbell described the incident as very unsettling for the local community, while police confirmed that a visible presence would remain at the schools for the remainder of the day to offer reassurance and answer questions.
