Following a sweeping majority win in a snap provincial election called by outgoing leader David Eby, British Columbians have been introduced to their premier-designate, Lorne Doerkson. The interim B.C. Conservative leader secured victory on Saturday night, bringing an extraordinary political rise to a crescendo after stepping into the role just six weeks prior.

During his brief time at the helm, Doerkson successfully brought Conservative defectors back into the fold and navigated the party through a campaign where they consistently led in opinion polls. Prior to his elevation to the interim leadership, Doerkson largely stayed out of broader culture-war debates, focusing instead on his local region's challenges with wildfires and healthcare issues. In his victory speech, he thanked both David Eby for his public service and Green Leader Emily Lowan for her contributions.
