LONDON — Ian Winter KC, the barrister representing Russell Brand, has referred himself to the Bar Standards Board following an incident involving a journalist outside court.
The self-referral follows an alleged confrontation with Sunday Times reporter Rosamund Urwin shortly after Brand was found guilty of rape. According to reports, Winter approached Urwin—whose investigative work previously prompted victims to come forward—and told her, “I hope you are pleased with yourself.”
The regulatory body will now review the circumstances surrounding the encounter to determine if any professional standards were breached.
