Alaska Senate Candidate Mary Peltola Reschedules Campaign Events After Car Crash

Democrat's 'Alaska Always Tour' temporarily delayed following a three-vehicle collision in Anchorage.

Former U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola is postponing several campaign appearances this week after she and her family sustained minor injuries in an Anchorage car crash. Peltola's campaign announced Sunday that the candidate is taking time to recover under medical advice, temporarily delaying the launch of her "Alaska Always Tour" with rescheduled stops planned later in the week in Fairbanks and Bethel.

The accident occurred Saturday as Peltola and her family were traveling to the Alaska Federation of Natives’ annual banquet. According to the campaign, their vehicle was struck by another driver. Anchorage police confirmed a three-vehicle collision took place that evening, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries, and stated that an investigation is currently underway. Campaign representatives noted they have no reason to believe the crash was politically motivated.
