The Department of Justice is taking action to remove two federal judges from handling immigration cases. The move stems from public remarks the judges made to the media, which officials characterized as extraordinarily imprudent.
Judicial Conduct Complaints and Disqualification Efforts
The recent effort to disqualify the judges follows a prior judicial misconduct complaint filed by the Justice Department last month. That complaint targeted Schiltz, Tunheim, and other Minnesota judges who took part in a report published by the Times. According to the DOJ, their participation violated judicial ethics regulations, prompting the department to petition the Eighth Circuit.
When contacted by Fox News Digital regarding the Justice Department's latest disqualification attempt, Judge Schiltz declined to provide a comment.
