SEABIRD ISLAND — Essential farming equipment critical to feeding the Seabird Island (Sq’éwqel) First Nation community has been stolen.

Sq’éwqel authorities reported that the Land To Table Farm has recently faced an ongoing surge in thefts. The stolen gear includes vital tools used to grow, harvest, and process fresh produce for community programs supporting youth, families, and Elders.

Community leaders are asking the public for assistance in tracking down and returning several missing items, such as a trailer, a refrigeration unit, and tillers.

Anyone with information regarding the stolen equipment is urged to contact organizers by calling 604-798-2936 or sending an email to land2table@seabirdisland.ca.
