Final MotoGP Race at Phillip Island Cancelled Due to Severe Weather

The final MotoGP race scheduled for the iconic Phillip Island circuit was officially cancelled on Sunday due to hazardous weather conditions. Heavy rain and poor visibility rendered the track unsafe, ultimately forcing organizers to abandon the event after hours of delays.

Safety Concerns Force Cancellation

The washout also claimed the remainder of the day's program, including the Moto2 and Moto3 races, as well as the third Australian Superbikes race. Other scheduled festivities, such as a legends lap featuring world champions Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner, and Wayne Gardner, were also scrapped.

End of an Era

Sunday’s cancellation marks an anticlimactic conclusion to the event's three-decade tenure at the Bass Coast circuit. The Australian Grand Prix is set to relocate to a new street circuit in Adelaide, South Australia, beginning in 2027. Despite the disappointment, riders—including Jack Miller—conducted a farewell lap for fans who had braved the wet and windy conditions in the grandstands.
