HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — Released 911 audio captures a distraught north Texas husband sobbing as he reported that his wife had fatally shot her two young daughters inside their Payne Springs home.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Sarah Nicole Henderson confessed to shooting her children, ages 5 and 7, early Thursday. Investigators stated she also attempted to shoot her husband, Jacob Henderson, but the weapon jammed. He managed to disarm her before contacting emergency services.

Prior to the tragic shootings, deputies had visited the residence late Wednesday evening following an initial call concerning a possibly suicidal woman. While that initial call was briefly canceled by the husband, deputies still checked the property and found no immediate issues. Authorities later returned following the fatal emergency calls to find the two girls dead at the scene.

Sheriff Botie Hillhouse indicated that investigators believe the mother had planned the killings for at least two weeks, though a definitive motive has not been publicly released. Sarah Henderson was subsequently booked on a capital murder charge with bond set at $2 million, and she remains held on suicide watch.
