Following Real Madrid’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the latest El Clásico, José Mourinho has emphasized that the win is merely a stepping stone toward the club's ultimate objective: securing the La Liga title. While the result provided a significant boost in the standings, the manager insisted that the team’s ambitions extend far beyond individual match-ups against their rivals.
A Strategic Win
The high-stakes encounter saw Kylian Mbappé reach a milestone, netting his 100th goal for the club to secure the late winner. The result has tightened the race at the top of the table, injecting fresh momentum into Real Madrid’s campaign. Despite the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the win, Mourinho maintained a disciplined outlook, framing the performance as a necessary tactical execution rather than a final achievement.
Mourinho’s return to the Clásico spotlight has been marked by a focus on long-term consistency. By downplaying the singular importance of beating Barcelona, he has signaled to his squad that the pursuit of the league trophy remains the primary benchmark for success this season.
