MotoGP Cancels Final Phillip Island Grand Prix Due to Severe Weather

The 2026 Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island was officially cancelled on Sunday following persistent heavy rain and dangerous visibility conditions. The event, which marked the final MotoGP race scheduled for the iconic island circuit, was called off after multiple attempts to adjust the race day schedule.

Safety Concerns Force Cancellation

The cancellation of the premier class race followed a day of disruptions at the circuit. Earlier in the day, the Moto2 and Moto3 races, as well as the final Australian Superbikes event, were also abandoned. Other trackside activities, including a celebratory legends lap featuring world champions Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner, and Wayne Gardner, were similarly scrapped as the weather worsened.

Sunday’s decision brings a premature end to the event's tenure at Phillip Island, as the Australian Grand Prix is set to move to a new venue in South Australia in future seasons.
