Following the Republican Party's major defeat in the midterm elections, U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and elevated right-wing hardliner Stephen Miller to the position.

Trump announced Wiles's departure on Truth Social, later telling reporters outside the White House that he wanted to make a change and that Miller had been with him from the beginning. Miller, previously serving as deputy chief of staff, is recognized as a key architect of the administration's mass deportation initiatives and a prominent advocate for the "America First" agenda.

The appointment comes into effect on Monday. Political observers note that promoting Miller signals a continuation and intensification of the administration's core political strategies following the congressional setbacks, rather than a shift in direction.
