Zion Suzuki Own Goal Hands Fulham Equaliser Against Aston Villa

Aston Villa were forced to settle for a 1-1 Premier League draw after a costly second-half own goal from goalkeeper Zion Suzuki handed Fulham a crucial equalizer at Villa Park.

Unai Emery’s side looked on course for their fifth win in six matches when Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring in the 39th minute. The striker collected a precise through ball from Johan Manzambi, skillfully navigated past defenders Timothy Castagne and David Affengruber, and slotted in his eighth goal of the season to give the hosts the lead.

Villa had earlier missed a golden opportunity to take control when John McGinn struck the crossbar with a penalty kick after Sander Berge was penalized for handling Leon Goretzka's header. Fulham pressed for an equalizer throughout the second half, with sustained pressure eventually paying off in bizarre fashion midway through the period. Following an Alex Iwobi corner, Suzuki cleanly saved an initial header but inexplicably dropped the ball over his own goal line under no pressure.

The draw keeps Fulham in strong form with seven points from their last nine, while Aston Villa turn their attention to an upcoming Champions League fixture against Barcelona on Tuesday, followed by a Premier League match against Manchester United.
