Storm Boelo Brings Widespread Disruption to UK
More than 82,000 properties in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the north of England are without power as Storm Boelo continues to batter the region. The storm, which made landfall on Saturday evening, has brought strong winds and heavy rain, causing widespread disruption to transportation and daily life.
The Met Office has issued weather warnings for wind across Scotland and northern England, with gusts reaching up to 84mph in some areas. The storm has also caused flooding in several towns, including Largs in Ayrshire, where water has flowed through the town centre. Rail services have been severely disrupted, with passengers advised not to travel north of Preston and LNER warning against travel north of Edinburgh.
Flights across the Irish Sea have been cancelled, and many ferry services have been suspended. The Cairngorms in Scotland have even seen snow, with the mountain rescue team being called out on Friday night to deal with deteriorating conditions.
