UK Politics Live: No indications of government systems being hacked
The UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has stated that there are currently no indications of government systems being hacked due to a PHP code flaw. The vulnerability in the PHP programming language has been described as "unprecedented" by an expert, with millions of websites affected worldwide.
According to Olly Whitehouse, the chief technology officer for the NCSC, the problem will be "universally felt" and organisations are scrambling to fix the security flaw. The PHP language is used to collect and present information on the web, and the vulnerability has been identified as a significant concern.
In the UK, 32 government services are currently unavailable, with four partially unavailable, as problems are being fixed. Internet infrastructure platform Cloudflare has reported seeing "millions" of hacking attempts.
