Former FBI Director James Comey Faces Third Set of Federal Charges

Federal prosecutors have filed a third set of criminal charges against former FBI Director James Comey, marking the latest legal action pursued by the Trump administration against one of the president's most prominent critics.

Comey, who was originally dismissed during Donald Trump's first presidential term after leading the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, strongly condemned the prosecution. In a video released Monday on Substack, Comey called the filing an "appalling abuse of the Department of Justice" and stated that he and his legal team intend to fight the charges vigorously in public.

The unsealing of the federal case coincided with a separate judicial ruling ordering the reinstatement of Comey’s daughter, Maurene Comey, after a federal judge determined she had been unlawfully terminated from the Justice Department last year.
