South Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Kim Jung-kwan, announced plans to accelerate the operation of semiconductor fabrication plants under the country's mega-project initiatives by more than two years.
Accelerating Semiconductor Fabs and National Growth
Speaking at a public forum hosted by the National Economic Advisory Council at Seoul's Ferrum Tower, Minister Kim detailed strategies centered on three major mega-projects: semiconductors, AI data centers, and physical AI. He emphasized that these interconnected efforts aim to break through low growth trends and elevate South Korea into an artificial intelligence powerhouse.
The ministry outlined that the massive investments directed toward these initiatives must serve as a comprehensive national growth platform, transforming the nation's economic and industrial framework in a manner comparable to historical shifts in heavy chemical industries.
