Saudi Arabian military forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels aimed at the capital city of Riyadh. In addition to the missile strike, the Saudi-led coalition reported the downing of two explosive-laden drones targeting the southern region of the country.
Heightened Security Measures
Following the detection of the incoming projectiles, Saudi civil defense authorities issued air raid alerts across multiple areas, including Riyadh and the southern city of Abha. The escalation has prompted immediate security responses, with reports indicating that major entities, including the energy giant Aramco, have instructed staff to evacuate or transition to remote work as a precautionary measure.
The Houthi movement has continued to assert its presence in the region, releasing footage of recent engagements. This latest cross-border attack underscores the persistent security challenges facing the kingdom amid ongoing regional tensions.
